甚麼是前調、中調、後調？
當我們使用香水（或任何芳香產品），噴出香水的那一剎那，會首先聞到一個撲鼻的香氣，然而隨著時間的增長，味道也會隨之改變。 因此可依照揮發的速度， 將他們區分成不同的調性（Notes）， 由此而歸類出：前調、中調還有後調。
前調
前調通常是由比較小的分子所構成，大約是在10分鐘左右所散發出來的香氣，而且味道是比較容易讓人有煥然一新、提起精神的感覺。
中調
中調通常是由比較大的分子所構成，香氣約在30~40分鐘後出現， 一般來說會持續大約數小時或是更久的時間。
後調
後調是由最大的分子所構成，香氣約在2 ~ 3小時左右會出現。這部分的香氣是由分子逐漸化成淡淡的餘味，是香水展現最後溫暖餘韻的時刻。
